Learn about the importance of your business's online presence and how to get started using several free and inexpensive tools. Also, have you noticed our new website launch?

The team (by team I mean Cassie Hansen and David Birchmier) has been working hard these past few weeks to bring you our new website. Welcome, you're here!

Honestly, this update has been long overdue. As someone who has worked closely with IACO Media (Bloomfield, IA / Aspen, CO), a proven web technologies leader, we're the first to know about the latest trends and importance of a representative online presence. The biggest problem with our old website is that it was not representative of the modern technology we worked with, nor did was it built with the customers as the first priority. We feel choice is always a good thing, that's why on our new website you'll find multiple methods of contact on every page, the ability to schedule an appointment online, and an intuitive interface and site map. You can even comment on this blog if you so desire. The look of the website was designed with a web 2.0 appearance in mind, and is now much more representative of both the type and quality of work MPA Computers performs.

We hope you enjoy the new look and features. We also launched our new "My Clean PC" service today -- a remote clean up performed by a real technician to help keep your PC in tip-top shape. Click here for more details if you're intrigued.

Enough about us! How can this help you? If you're a business you know that a poor web presence can lead to a lack of interest by the customer and perhaps not generate the result you want. A non-existent web presence will leave your customer not knowing your name and perhaps visiting your competitor instead. If you don't yet have a website, or have a website that doesn't serve your customer, now is the time for change. Check out IACO Media, they're great to work with and have you up and running in no time. If you're not yet ready to take the leap with a website, there are a few things you can do yourself, for free to give your business some online recognition.

  1. Register your business with Google Local. If you've ever done a google search for a category of business and location, you've seen Google Local results. Check out our listing as an example. The first result with the map is what your business will look like after you've listed yourself. To get started go to www.google.com/local/add and follow the steps to add your business. (it's free!)

  2. List yourself with Super Pages -- Their basic listing is free and will give you a presence in your local area.

  3. Establish an email newsletter. If you're collecting, or can collect email addresses, starting a monthly newsletter is a great step to keeping your customers up-to-date. If you're a retail business, consider offering exclusive "newsletter only" discounts to your customers. iContact is an extremely easy way to get started sending out newsletters. Click here to sign up for their free trial. (No credit card information required)

Thanks for checking out the new website -- we hope this information has been helpful to you. Your opinion is very valuable, so please tell us what you think about the page. Feel free to leave a comment below with your thoughts and suggestions for improvement.
